UW Week of Jazz 20 years!

A celebration of jazz at the University of Washington celebrates something much larger than an esteemed UW program—it’s a celebration of community, of creativity, and the hard-won results of countless hours of concentrated discipline.

The Jazz Studies program benefits greatly from its proximity to the excellent jazz programs of Seatttle’s middle and high schools, the strong sense of community fostered by organizations like Earshot Jazz, and the rich cultural landscape of Seattle’s music and arts scenes.

A Week of Jazz will showcase the very best work of our students and faculty and bring to the UW campus some internationally renowned musicians—guitarist Bill Frisell and saxophonist Andrew D’Angelo—as well as respected jazz community members with a range of perspectives.

We invite you to join us as the UW Jazz Studies Program celebrates its past, embraces the present, and looks ahead to a most promising future.
